CO-FOUNDER, THE SHOREDITCH BEARD

I started The Shoreditch Beard with two of my friends, Gianluca and Elise. We set it up during a weekend. Since we work in tech, and love living in such a creative area, this was the perfect way for us to bring those things together. Our brand and products are very much inspired by Shoreditch. We live here, work here, have friends here, and we have beards – except Elise of course! I really believe that if you drive more talent into this area it’ll benefit long-time residents as well. A person now born in Shoreditch has a better chance to get into a good job, in the tech industry for example, than fifty years ago when they could’ve gone to work at one of the factories. But I do think a set of measures should be implemented to control rents and help small businesses keep their doors open. I have a friend who had to close their cafe when Costa moved in around the corner, for example. They should put things in place to make sure people can stay.
